Bark! Bark!  It’s finally here!  The H.H. Backer Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show starts tomorrow (October 2).

As an exhibitor, I got a sneak peek of the show today while everyone (me too) were getting setup for the influx of buyers expected over the next 3 days.

If you’ve never been to this show be ready to be impressed…. and do a LOT of walking.  The show is spread over 2 floors and there’s everything from any pet related exhibitor you can imagine to a grooming contest.   There are even things you might not imagine, like glow in the dark mice.  This is a great chance for buyers in the pet industry to find out what new for the Holidays, meet old friends and learn a few new things about the Pet Industry.

Here are a couple of ‘insider’ tips if you’re coming to the show.  First, as soon as you register and get your badge make a bee line (that’s a quick, direct line) to booth 1945 (first floor).  That’s where you’ll find 2 products just selected by Dog Fancy Magazine as “perfect gift ideas for dog lovers.”  Coincidentally, those two products happen to both be from Keep On Wagging! (okay, that’s the shameless plug for this post).

The second tip is to make sure you check out the Product Showcase.  The Showcase is open 1 hour before the show floors open and features a great selection of products that you’ll probably want to learn more about while you’re at the show.  It’s also a great place and time to plot out your attack.

The show is held at a great, modern facility, the Donald E. Stephens Conventions Center, in the Rosemont area of Chicago.  There are lots of great hotels like the W Aloft (The Official hotel of Keep On Wagging! in Chicago) that are within an easy walk and from what I’m hearing from my twitter friends there are lots of great places to eat close too.
