This just in…

All indications are that a Golden Retriever will take top honors in EVERY group at the 13th Annual Hilton Head Island Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show (AHHIKCABDS13 for short)

This will be the case even for groups Goldens don’t normally compete in such as Toy (are they even real dogs?),  Non-sporting (i.e. dogs that can’t catch a tennis ball), Terrier (not much fun without a pest to hunt) and Hounds (can they smell what the Rock’s got cookin’?).

Seriously, when you think about it how can a Whippet compete with a Golden (no disrespect to the Whippets out there of course… Whippets are probably great dogs, but they’re not Goldens…)

Unfortunately the Golden’s are not expected to fair very well in the Obedience Trials… think about it… a Golden Retriever that close to the beach on a sunny day… who could concentrate?

Also, this year the AKC is testing several new competition classes at this event.  These new classes are being added to make sure everyone gets an opportunity to be recognized.

“Best Dressed Handler”
“Best Hair-do on a Breeder”
“Owner that Looks Most Like Their Dog”
“Amateur Handler That Doesn’t Trip on His/Her First Run”
and finally there’s the highly coveted

“Best in Class Bitch (non-dog)”

Top winners in these new classes will receive a Blue lint brush.  We wish the Handlers/Owners/Breeders all the best in these sure to be permanent additions to upcoming AKC dog shows.

If you’re in the area you should definitely check out the show.  The forecast is calling for GORGEOUS weather on Hilton Head!  Sunny and 70ish!  If you’ve never been to a dog show you’ll be in for a treat watching over 500 exceptional pure bred dogs (and their Handlers) strut their stuff.

Just in case there is an exceptionally cute Poodle competing, Keep On Wagging! will be at the show to support the Goldens (well okay, and the other dogs too) so make sure you stop by the big white tent and say “Woof!”
