… yawn….. streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetch…. wow, it seems like I’ve been asleep for a couple of weeks….. man, and what crazy dreams I’ve had… I dreamed that I went to the groomer and she shaved all my fur off and then I went to …. YEEEEEKKKKKK!!!! It wasn’t a dream… where did all my fur go? I remember hearing the buzzing, but I thought that was just a new nozzle for the doggie bath hose… now I know why they don’t have mirrors in that room.
… My long, flowing beautiful fur….. scratch… scratch…. How will I create those fun little hair bunnies all over the house? What will Molly think? I mean I know she gets shaved too, but that she has that hot little puff on her tail… look at me… no puff…. Of course my tail is still pretty long…. Opps, there it goes… Circle, circle…. Got it… darn it… circle…. Got…. Circle, circle…. Whew… that always makes me dizzy….
… Scratch… scratch… you know though, it is easier to get a good scratch going without all that long tangly fur in the way… and I look so slim… I bet I look 10 pounds lighter and dog years younger… and … lick, lick, lick…. Wow! My ‘stuff’ sure looks bigger…. well, what’s left of my stuff anyway…. Maybe I SHOULD give Molly a call…. sure, and we can share shaving stories …

You know… the breeze does feel pretty good on my back with this shorter fur-do… I better give it the grass test… roll, roll, scratch, roll, wiggle, wiggle…. Ahhhhhh… that’s nice…. I never knew the grass blades could tickle so much…. and some of the grass still sticks to me so I can take it inside with me and rub it off on the carpet….

I’m still a Golden Retriever. …Well, I can’t help what you read in the AKC Breed Standard … all I know is that THIS purebred is still all Golden even without the “Untrimmed natural ruff; moderate feathering on back of forelegs and on underbody…”
… hey, how did you read that anyway? Have you been learning new tricks? Can you teach me? I’m still trying to figure out what’s in that food they give me…. Tastes a little like old socks but I’m sure that’s not what it is… and trust me, i’ve had enough socks to know the difference… Can you come over later and maybe read the bag for me? Ahhhh…. another wonderful Spring afternoon … huh, you know… now that I think about it…. I’ve never had a summer cut before… I wonder if something is up? I’ve noticed that my people have been acting awfully strangely lately… (but that’s for the next adventure….)

What happened? Are you alright? I hope you are not sick. Speak to me Max! Speak! Speak! RRRRooOoowf! Oops… i think that was me speaking. My boy gets a summer cut- he gets a baldy. I have not had a summer cut – my M-O-M uses a yellow brush that takes my winter coat off me but not on my fluffy parts- that would hurt. It was verry hot here today in Minnesota- we are not used to hot weather here yet. So i was full of happy joy to see the yellow brush come out today. Getting brushed by the yellow brush is like being nakey- i think- and it feels really reallyrrreally good- like the best back scratch ever. OOOOOH- almost forgot to tell ya: I almost caught a bunny today!!!!! OMGosh– i was so fast i was a blur right up to the point of the…fence. I wish bunnies had to wear collars, too. It would make the game more fair.

It’s almost time for me, Ralph the Border Collie, to get my summer cut. Boy do I hate it! Mom has finally figured out that if she doesn’t shave my tail, or my back end too short, then I can live with it. BUT shave my tail bald, and I’m NOT going to the dog park!!!!! At least not until enough grows back to not emBAREass me. Merlin is soooooo lucky to have short fur, so he doesn’t have to go through the humilation of a yearly shave. (But he does have to wear those silly coats in the winter!!) Guess MOM does know best, but don’t tell here!!! Keep us updated Max, we love your stories!

I sure hope my person doesn’t get wind of this hair cut stuff,
cuz if he does I’ll be next. I have long silky hair and it would be a shame if he cut it. I’ll keep a look out for those funny silver things (i think they’re called scissors) that my person chases me around the house with.

Too bad about the cut, dude. I’m due to get my flowing locks trimmed again too. And this time she’s talking all over for summer, no more curly Cocker Spaniel pantaloons. And chicks dig these long curly ears! Hmmm…makes the stuff look bigger, huh? Well, maybe there’s some bright spot in all this. Some fine lookin gals in my Tricks class, especially that long-legged blond. Oops, no offense, she looks kinda like you.
Anyway, I’ve gotta get outside to pee on our side of the fence. Big Buddy next door seems to think that’s HIS, and it’s a full time job remarking the thing, even with my lil weiner-dog brother giving it his best shot (hehe). Take care, here’s a bark-out from Appleton Wisconsin!

I am 11 months old and just got my 1st puppy cut. My mother is in complete shock and does not know how to react! What should I tell her? Most importantly….when will it grow back?
