Max’s most embarassing moment - so far.
- Max is a purebred a Golden Retriever (obviously?).
- He was born on September 16, 2006 and is really named Sir Maxwell Jones of Falls River. (Fortunately his people don’t ever call him that in public.)
- His favorite treat is an ice cube. Seriously….
- His favorite toy is, well, anything he can chew, including dog toys and an occasional sock. Oh, yeah. He’s fond of tennis balls too.
- His turn-ons are playing outside, shedding inside and nap time.
- His turn offs are cat people and cats (although they are entertaining….)
- His favorite food is whatever his people are eating
- His favorite TV channel is Animal Planet followed closely by Fox News
- His favorite game is ‘try and catch me’
- His favorite memory is the time he almost caught a rabbit (he was soooo close)
- He wants to be a Golden Retriever when he grows up. Is there anything better?

Sir Maxwell Jones of Falls River is a very fine name that demands a dog of character and good looks….it fits you perfectly although I am also confused about the attraction to Fox News
Those are great pictures! How cute is he….? I just want to hug him
Hey Max! My name is Charlie. I’m a Golden Retriever too! My birthday is Sept 22, 2005. My favorite treat is an ice cube too! After that it’s peanut butter.
Hi, Max!!! Our best friend is also a Golden named Bodie. She looks a lot like you. We go on very messy walks together in a muddy field with a stream.
Lucy: I’m 4 and a mixed Boxer/Hound. I’m always sniffing and always barking.
Maggie: I’m 8 and a mixed Lab. I’m the color of a chocolate lab, but I’m much prettier. I had surgery on my 2nd knee in January, but now I can fetch. I love tennis balls! I hardly ever bark.
We had an interesting morning today. Maggie was outside, but I couldn’t go because I tend to bark way too early in the morning. All of a sudden Maggie was pounding on the back door to come in. Silly wimp was terrified because two owls were hooting at each other. Let me at ‘em, I said!! But, alas, Mom wouldn’t let me.
Hi Max. I am a Golden Retriever and I was born in October of 2006. I like your name very much. My name is Enos, and I was told that I was named after a very fine police officer that used to be on TV. Hey, I wanted to ask if you have ever used this one: stare blankly at the people while letting your tongue hang outside the side of your mouth. They giggle a bit, say something like ‘you poor dumb dog’ and then give you a treat. I’m not sure why it works, but it’s pretty much always there for me. Give it a shot!
Keep up the good writing.
Sincerely,
Enos
Watch this and weep. Can Max help? The perpetrators are Taiwanese military. It’s a national scandal that nobody is talking about. A Taiwanese woman was told to contact me. But what can I do?

Hi Max,
My name is Shadow, I’m a 3 year old labradinger (lab springer mix). Want to play? I love the water and like to play fetch with sticks, big sticks. I miss my Taffey.
I came to my owners home as a 3 month old pound rescue. Taffey was the aging Golden Retriever in residence. She did not like me much at first, but I learned a lot from her. I learned to be a good dog. She died of cancer a little over a year ago. Both I and my owner miss her very much. It is so good to see pictures of Goldens.
Arf, arf.
Dear Max!
Not only are you handsome, you are a superstar! Love your blog, I’ll be here every day now
I’m a labradinger, about 8 yrs old, single….wink wink.
Stub wags and flatulence,
Jill

Hey Max, you’re a Superstar! My master just saw your website featured on the national news, CNN I think. He got inspired to let me drop you a line. I’m a six-year old Golden myself. I usually curl up by his feet and fall asleep when he’s on the PC. It keeps his toes warm. It’s my duty.
Your new admirer,
monty
Hi ya Max,
Me and my sister Shiloh are 11 months old today. We’re going to Disney World for a week in May ’cause we’re too big, and “oafish” (funny dad) to stay here with our pet sitter lady, Mary. My dad booked Shiloh and me into a nice pet hotel in Kissemee. We live with 6 other dogs and 3 cats in Bumpass, VA, so we’re really the “Bumpass hounds” like in that Christmas Story movie. Five of the other dogs are Golden Retrievers like you. Homer is 10 years old; (a red) who came to live with us in November. He’s was living at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Santuary in West Virginia (http://www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org/) but he wanted a forever home so he came to live with us. Jubal is 8 (a blonde) and JEB is 7 (a gold), Shelby is 4 years old (a gold), and Jack is 3 years old (a gold). Abby is a 2 year old Yellow Labrador/Golden Retriever mix (Labragolden?). She also came here from A.H.G.R.R.
Boru and Alex are Maine Coon cats, they’re always hanging in the house and like to box with us Landseer dogs; we find cats to be VERY interesting. Boru thinks he’s a Golden Retriever, he’s big enough, and he’s always hanging with them. Jenny is a sweet little tortie girl cat. She came from Wendy’s Feline Friends rescue (http://www.wendysfelinefriends.org/). She doesn’t like me or Shiloh but she gets along OK with the other dogs. My Mom & Dad said that it’s important to be responsible pet custodians and to help places like AHGRR and Wendy’s. You wouldn’t believe the stories that Homer and Abby have heard at AHGRR about being abandoned and almost getting the green needle (I don’t know what that is exactly but it doesn’t sound nice) and other bad stuff.
I hope that you had a good time at your sleepover. My only previous sleepover was at Doc’s hospital and it wasn’t very pleasant. Doc said that my bark would probably have a higher pitch now. I should tell you about the night I got out of my crate and had the garage all to myself. Shiloh and I have an apartment in the garage. The other guys all stay in the “MBR” at night. Me and Shiloh did for a while but we liked to wrestle at night and we kinda got BIG and bumped into a lot of stuff so we wanted our own pad. I gotta go. Dad is yelling at me to get away from the computer and get my butt outside with the rest of the pack. Talk to you again.
Hi Max,
My name is Chase and I’m a 3 year old Golden. I have a blog too. (Well, when mom and dad aren’t writing about food and wine that is.) http://www.pawsandpours.com
They tell me they revolve their lives around me, but I think it’s well-deserved attention. Can we link to your blog on ours?
Hi Max,
My name is Gorgeous Gentle Georgia but everyone calls me Georgie unless I’m bad. Then they call me George. My birthday is October 12th, 2001 and I live on the Isle of Wight. I love the sea. I once tried to swim to France but I had to turn around because my people got hysterical. My fav snack is an ice cube too! Must be a Golden thing.
Hi Max!
Your blog is great! I’m a big beautiful female Golden Retriever named Benchmark’s Coast Starlight, but all my friends call me Star. My mom and dad are both champions, and so are lots of my family, but not me — I’m a Pampered Couch Diva. My birthday is December 1, 1999. The vet says I’m a senior dog now, and I’m getting a little arthritis in my shoulder so I use a really cool ramp to get in and out of the truck.
I have a baby picture that looks a lot like yours! I was that size for about two days too! My favorite snacks are apples, bananas and carrots. I can always hear my people peeling a banana, no matter where I am in the house, even if I’m sleeping, I’m really good at it. I want to know who this Pavlov guy is they keep comparing me to! My favorite thing to steal is… socks from the laundry! Sometimes I get two or three at a time! My favorite toy is my rag, and my favorite game is tug of war with my rag. My most favorite thing to do is go for a ride, especially with the window open! Or maybe my most favorite thing to do is snooze on the couch, or sit on my people’s feet, or make new friends, or sniff the breeze, or… gosh, I like so many things! But what I don’t like is cats. It sure sounds like you and I have lots in common! Do you live near Seattle? If you do, maybe we could play together at one of the dog parks!
Goldens Rule! Cats Drool!
Your friend,
Star
I wanna be a golden retriever when I grow up, too!!! Too bad I’m stuck being a human, though…
Hey Max. I’m Bailey and I’ll be 5 years old on 19 November. My sister Jonty will be 7 on 8 May, she’s getting old but she’s still pretty cool to hang out with. We live a long way away from you, with our Mum and Dad in Canberra, the capital city of Australia. It’s a great place to live, we get to go for lots of walks and I get to meet lots of doggy mates at dog club every Sunday. Mum thinks she’s training me to be opbedient but I just let her think that, it seems to make her happy. To see my picture you should check me out on the Dog A Day photo blog my friend Mia runs. She’s a great photographer and I’m featured as ‘Bailey the Sailorman’. Jonty’s jealous, she hopes to she gets her photo there too. Nice talkin’ to you Max!
